Service Description

So you've seen Ghost, been watching the Great Pottery Throwdown, or you've been insta-stalking the amazing potters of the world, and want to give wheel throwing a go, you're in the right place! This four week introduction to wheel throwing offers the perfect taster for what it's like to throw pots on a pottery wheel. Course includes: 4 x 3hr instructor guided classes (one per week for 3 weeks in a row) Clay & use of studio equipment Firing and glazing of up to 6 pieces throughout the duration of your course. Extra pieces can be glazed & fired for an additional fee if you wish. Course Outline: Week One: Learn how to prepare you clay for throwing on the wheel using the rams horn wedging method. Then we will jump on the wheel to learn the basics of Centering your clay, and pulling a cylinder shape. This week is the hardest week! There's a lot of information to take in, and a steep learning curve, but don't be discouraged it gets much easier. Week 2: A brief demo of how to trim pots to give you a clear idea of the entire making process, we will then jump back on the wheel and spend the lesson honing your throwing skills. Week 3: This week we will begin to add more complex shapes as your skills develop. Week 4: Trimming week! This week we will finish off all of the pots you have thrown throughout the last three weeks, You will learn how to flip your pots over and re-center them on the wheel, before using tools to trim off excess clay, add foot rings and tidy up your pots ready to be fired. What to bring: Wear some clothes you don't mind getting messy in, ensure all long hair is tied back and nails are trimmed short Please leave your jewellery and watches at home. PLEASE NOTE: If you are booking into this course you are committing to be able to attend for the duration of the course. We are unable to offer make up classes in our courses. If you are unable to attend a class for any reason, this is not the responsibility of the studio. If there are not enough students enrolled in the course we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule this course, we will offer you a full refund or a credit. Unfortunately, due to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations our studio is a strictly adults only workplace. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Cancellation Policy

You are able to reschedule or cancel your bookings from your login page up to 24 hours before the start time of your class. Go to the 'Class Bookings' tab, click 'Login' in the top right corner, click on your profile and select 'My Bookings', select your class and choose to cancel or reschedule. All cancellations made after the 24 hour period, and no-shows to classes will not be refunded.
